Nicole Kidman has been left heartbroken and devastated on the eve of her 50th birthday, amid reports that her children Isabella and Connor have refused to attend her lavish celebrations.
Friends confirm the siblings – from Nicole’s marriage to A-list star Tom Cruise – told their mother they had no intention of attending the party organised by her husband Keith Urban.
The snub has shocked Nicole’s inner circle, who say the actress has ‘moved heaven and Earth’ to try to convince her eldest children to change their minds – but to no avail.
‘Nicole can’t believe her own children have dumped her on her big day. She’s absolutely devastated,’ says a source close to the actress.
‘All she wanted on her 50th birthday was to have her family around her, and now that Connor and Isabella have said they’re not coming, it’s really taken the wind out of her sails.
‘Isabella especially has put her foot down and refused to attend. It’s just so hurtful for Nicole.
‘She offered to pay for a private jet to bring her from London to Nashville for the party, but Bella won’t budge. Nicole’s really shattered over it all.’
It’s believed a long-running feud with country star Keith is what’s stopping Isabella, 24, and Connor, 22, from attending the birthday bash.
While tensions have always been high between the siblings and their adoptive mother since she distanced herself from Scientology – which is still a huge part of the Cruise kids’ lives – it’s Bella’s disdain for Keith that has caused the latest falling out.
‘It’s because Bella can’t stand Keith,’ an insider says. ‘And she really doesn’t want to be at the party if he is going to be there, because she knows she will just be angry with him.
‘The last thing she wants to do is cause a scene – but she doesn’t trust herself not to because, as she herself admits, she can be very headstrong.
‘The truth is Bella can’t stand to see Keith fawning all over Nic and putting on PDAs.
‘Nic was upset when Bella told her she wouldn’t be coming, and even offered to pay for her to stay in a hotel so she wouldn’t be under the same roof as Keith.
‘But nothing could change Bella’s mind and Nic didn’t want to push things too much in case it sparked fresh trouble.’
