They’ve always had a pact to keep their family life out of the spotlight and away from Hollywood.
But after their daughters were photographed apparently working as extras on Nicole Kidman’s latest TV production, a New Idea source reveals Keith Urban is reportedly unhappy at his wife’s change of heart.
WATCH! Nicole Kidman on set with her daughters!
“Keith was fuming with Nicole for allowing Sunday and Faith to have extras roles on
the show – especially when he’d specifically told her he didn’t want them growing up
in the spotlight at all,” explains the insider.
“Keith accused her of betraying him and going against his wishes and telling her how disrespected he felt given he’d been so clear about his wishes.”
Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith Margaret, 8, were spotted in costume and apparently working as extras on the Manhattan set of HBO miniseries The Undoing last week. Both girls were wearing the same school uniform of shirt, jumper, tie and skirt with maroon tights, while they both carried cloth bags emblazoned with the fictional “Reardon School” logo.
Also in full costume and makeup, Nicole smiled proudly as she watched her daughters.
“Nicole insisted, given they were just extras, it wasn’t breaking Keith’s rules, but Keith got even madder – screaming at her down the phone, which everyone around her could hear, and threatening to walk as he said he couldn’t stay in a marriage where his partner clearly had no respect for him,” added the insider.
Afterwards Nicole was in floods of tears, apparently fleeing to her trailer to call Keith back and work out their differences. When he didn’t answer her calls, the Big Little Lies star asked her assistant to “track him down and fly him to NYC for showdown talks”.
“Nicole barely made it through the rest of her scene before calling off the rest of
the day as she was sobbing uncontrollably, telling people on-set she thought her marriage was over and it was all her fault,” adds the insider.
In the past Nicole has been very protective of her youngest children and has taken pains to keep them out of the public eye. In 2011 she appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar with then baby Faith, but she made sure her face was shielded from view.
The couple have also talked frequently about how they choose to live in Nashville so that they can have a normal family life away from the glare of publicity in Los Angeles and all the pressures of life in the spotlight.
However, Nicole has also admitted to being conflicted about whether or not to allow the girls to have more public lives.
“I’ve never taken them anywhere publicly, because I’m protective of their identities and don’t want them exposed early on. But part of me is pulled in that direction.
“Sometimes they say, ‘I wish I was getting dressed up and going with you’,” she told Vogue in 2017.
Despite admitting during a 2016 interview that his daughters have “a little musical leaning, a little acting leaning”, Keith has always been more tight-lipped about their daughters while Nicole has always praised him for being a protective father and husband.
So while it seems Nicole could have changed her mind about letting Sunday and Faith forge their own careers in acting, Keith is less convinced.
“Nicole was sobbing uncontrollably, desperately trying to plead with him, explaining how she respected his wishes but they’d been insistent on having small parts and feeling involved in something their mum was doing,” says the source.
“But Keith told her he didn’t know if there was anywhere to go from here.”
