Ivan Milat has been linked to the disappearance of Sydney girls who went missing in 1980.
New evidence surrounding missing Cronulla teenagers Elaine Johnson, 17, and Kerry Anne Joel, 18, was revealed before Glebe’s Coroner’s Court this week.
The Daily Telegraph reports the teen’s disappearance resembles the 14 girls who vanished in NSW’s Hunter Region during the 70s and 80s.
It’s believed Milat was working in the area at the time and may have murdered several of the girls.
Detective Senior Constable Richard McNally said: ‘Strike Force Fenwick showed a number of girls going missing around the Hunter/Newcastle area. (There are) a number of persons of interest in regards to that.’
The two girls were known to hitchhike to Wyong on the Central Coast.
Deputy state coroner Mary Jerram said, ‘I think we have to assume there must have been foul play.’
She referred the case to the Unsolved Homicide Squad.
