And it seems producers are reverting to the tried and tested original formula by bringing back two of the show’s most iconic characters to reprise their roles, according to Ten Daily.

Almost 27 years since they left the series, twins Gayle and Gillian Blakeney are returning to Ramsay Street!

The siblings, who played on-screen sisters Christina and Caroline Alessi, arrived on the Street in 1990.

The Alessi twins masqueraded as the same person using the pseudonym Linda Giles as part of a police protection programme after they witnessed a gruesome murder.

Gayle Blakeney told Ten Daily she and Gillian are “tickled pink” to be back on the show and promised fans the upcoming episodes are certainly ones to watch.

“We knew if they wanted to reprise the characters after nearly 30 years, it had to be for a great story line – which it is!” she said.

“Strangely enough, it feels just so comfortable and familiar despite the obvious changes… The cast and crew have been so welcoming,” Gillian added.
