Actress Vivean Gray has died aged 92.
The veteran star of the small screen was best known as uptight Mrs Mangel in Neighbours, which she starred in from 1986-1988, and before that as Mrs Jessup in The Sullivans during the ’70s.
As well as roles in Prisoner, Cell Block H and Matlock Police, she also portrayed Miss McCraw in the classic film Picnic At Hanging Rock.
The British-born star has been remembered by Network Ten’s Head of Drama, Rick Maier: ‘Mrs Mangel and Mrs Jessup were two of our most iconic characters from one of our very best actors. Ramsay Street changed forever, and certainly no secret was ever safe, with Mrs Mangel on the lookout.
‘Vivean’s contribution to Australian drama will never be forgotten. It is a very sad day for the Neighbours family.’
