The actor, who began his career in the early 1980’s with roles in Twin Peak’s and Crossing Jordan, lost his battle with throat cancer in his LA home on Thursday surrounded by close friends and family.

Born to singer and actress Rosemary Clooney and Academy Award winning actor Jose Ferrer, the star was remembered in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter by his cousin George Clooney.

“Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer. But not lost to his family. Miguel made the world bright and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will.”

Todd Fisher – who also lost his mother Debbie Reynolds and half-sister Carrie Fisher late last year – was best man at Ferrer’s wedding. The 58-year-old also penned a beautiful tribute to his “best old friend” in a series of heartbreaking posts on social media.
