The program, which airs this Sunday at 8.30pm, will include the infamous Madonna interview that aired on the same program in 2012.

Elton, 72, will tour Australia in late November and Molly, 76, hopes to meet up with him at his concert at Hanging Rock and settle their differences.

“If he’s still angry with me, he can push me off the bloody rock,” Molly said.

The singer refuses to speak to the Aussie music icon after candid – and apparently off-the-record – comments Elton made about Madonna made it into a 2011 TV interview.

Molly and Elton were close friends for many decades, but it seemed that Elton banned Molly from his life – refusing to see the Aussie favourite when he last toured Down Under. Recalling the TV chat that caused the breakdown in the relationship in his book in 2016, Ah Well, Nobody’s Perfect, Molly has been extremely candid about the pain it has caused him.

“This part of the interview was clearly a chat between two old friends and not intended for public broadcast,” he recalls of the comments that have caused so much drama.

“Elton was angry with Madonna because he said she had been ‘horrible’ to Lady Gaga, Zachary’s godmother.

“’I love Gaga,’ Elton told me. ‘She’s the real deal, she can actually sing.’”

“As for Madonna, well, Elton let fly: ‘She’s such a nightmare. Sorry. Her career’s over — I can tell you that. Her tour’s been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to be a bigger c***.'”

While Molly blames the airing of the comments on his lack of attention to detail as he recovered from his horror brain injury, it seems Elton doesn’t want to hear that.

“Elton still thinks it was all my fault, and refused to talk to me when he toured Australia in 2015,” Molly wrote.

“I avoided his concert, going to see Taylor Swift instead. It’s all a little silly, really. I’m tempted to quote a line from one of my favourite movies: ‘Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.’ But the truth is, I do give a damn. I love Elton.”

Will Elton forgive Molly? Only time will tell.
