The reality star opened up in an exclusive interview.

Although he’s been painted as a ‘villain’ on this year’s season of My Kitchen Rules, Broome contestant Josh revealed a softer side to himself when opening up about his childhood.

The 26-year-old reality star explained his parents split up when he was six-years-old, which is when he left Holland.

Josh lost touch with his father because of the split and didn’t see him again until the age of 19, which he describes as a “strange” experience.

“It was really strange seeing him,” he said.

“He’s a bit of a dropkick. I find
it hard because I look so
similar to him and so I get judged straight away by his family, even though I am who
I am. It’s getting better, though, every time I go back.”

The seafood king admits he has a half-sister on the other side of the world, but he’s yet to meet her.

“He’s [dad] got another family in England so I’ve got a half-sister out there who I still haven’t
met. I think he’s split from his other wife now and he’s just roaming around Europe somewhere. I think there’s a little bit of alcohol involved there.

“It was quite strange because Mum never really had anything nice to say about him but then I’d chat to him and try to talk to him with a fresh mind and a clean slate, but I quickly worked out myself that he’s not a good person,” he added.
