As the old adage goes, misery loves company – just ask David and Betty.
On the show they may be #justfriends, but beneath the Snapchats and the friendly banter bubbles a tale of heartache and red-hot romance.
David never expected to be a divorcee at 32. Nevertheless, after his marriage came to an unexpected end more than two years ago, his life spiralled out of control.
‘It was a really hard time,’ the Optus manager reveals.
‘When you’ve been with someone for seven years and you get married… you think it’s forever. But I got to the point where I just needed to be happy, and I couldn’t sit there sulking so I did what I needed to do and it’s turned out to be really positive.’
It may be hard to believe but amazingly, David’s bombshell MKR partner Betty is single too!
During their 10-year friendship, while David was going through the breakdown of his marriage, Betty also faced a devastating break-up.
‘We were together for three-and-a-half years,’ the 27-year-old social media influencer reveals.
‘I went through a hard time with my break-up. It did get toxic at the end, but you move on – you want to move forward.’
