Channel 7

He’s come under fire
for his outrageous comments and attacks on wife Amy, but it seems My Kitchen Rules villain Josh finally got what was coming to him after filming on the hit show ended.

The 26-year-old WA fisherman exclusively tells New Idea that when their time on the series ended, they immediately split up ‘to give ourselves some distance’.

Josh says that having ‘no breathing room’ from each other during their MKR stint put the couple under strain, with Amy describing it as a ‘pressure cooker’.

He reveals that as a result, Amy moved out for a week so they could ‘clear their heads’ and start getting their marriage back on track.

‘We had our ups and downs, it came in waves… it was definitely a big challenge,’ Josh tells New Idea.

‘I think it’s because we had no breathing room from each other. Whenever we were in front of the camera, it just brought out the worst in each other – being together every single day.

‘As soon as we finished filming, we spent a week away from
each other – so Amy went to a girlfriend’s house in Broome and I went off and stayed at our house and gave ourselves some distance there to kind of clear our heads.’

The most controversial character in MKR history, Josh hit headlines last week with wild allegations producers
on the show ‘blackmailed’ him.

‘They [producers] were saying if I didn’t do certain things, they were going to portray that differently,’ he told Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O.

‘They were telling me how they were going to edit it unless I played ball.’

Josh also claimed producers had purposely extended his time on the show to increase drama.

‘When we cooked against Kelsey and Amanda, Amy and I were pretty much ready to go home,’ he said. ‘I can guarantee you they swung it in a way
so we stayed in the competition.’

However, a number of his former competitors have hit out at the self-proclaimed ‘Seafood King’, claiming his behaviour on the show and behind the scenes was ‘disgusting’.

‘I was horrified, to be honest,’ Court tells New Idea.

‘One of my main concerns on the show was watching him and the way he spoke to Amy. I would never stand for it.’
