On MKR he’s as cool as a cucumber, taking steamy onscreen romances and cooking disasters in his stride.
But Adelaide contestant Kyle has had his fair share of drama – revealing that he was recently caught up in a drug cartel hostage terror in Colombia.
‘My friend Nick and I went into a restaurant and a Colombian dude sat at our table and basically demanded money,’ Kyle tells New Idea.
‘There were about 10 other guys with him. They made Nick stay in a room – forcibly – while I had to go and get money to get him out. They demanded $1500.’

Adding to the drama, Kyle, 27, reveals that when he fled to get the ransom, leaving his mate locked away by his captors – who they believed to be armed – his ATM card wouldn’t work!
‘I couldn’t get money out, so I was really worried about Nick. I ended up getting some money out and managed to get Nick released with it, but had to go back the next day and give them more money,’ he says.
‘They had threatened us and knew where we were staying and everything about us, so we were in a bad situation. The mastermind behind it all made it clear that they would come after us if we didn’t pay. It was full-on.’
