He may be a fun, friendly footy fan on screen, but young single dad Mark harbours a dark past.
The 32-year-old revealed to New Idea he suffered depression after splitting with his wife, the mother of his two sons, 18 months ago.
‘It was the toughest time in my life,’ he confessed.
‘It’s still a process I’m going though now.’
Mark says he separated from his long-term partner for the sake of their sons Luke, 6 and Fabian, 4.
‘The main reason I left was because I believe if you can’t be the person you want to be then you’ve got to change what’s happening in your life to be the best person you want to be,’ he explains.
‘I didn’t think that situation was getting the best out of me. Hopefully one day [the kids] realise that it was with their best interests at heart.’
Mark reach out to his GP when he realised he was suffering depression and hopes being open about his battle with encourage other men in a similar situation to do the same.
‘For men we really struggle to speak about it and that’s not a good thing,’ he says.
‘I learned a few ways to cope through my journey.’
