Sydney siblings Josh and Austin are set to be the most talked-about brothers in the country when My Kitchen Rules hits screens. Not only are the brutally honest pair going to ruffle feathers, they’ve also got one heck of a personal story.
Josh and Austin have never set foot in a classroom and were instead home-schooled by their missionary mother.
“We moved all over the world because our parents were both missionaries,” Josh explains to New Idea. “We’re non-denominational but if you had to pin us, I would say we’re Pentecostal. The happy-clappy Christians.”
According to Josh, 24, their faith is what drives them in every aspect of life, including their time on MKR. “What me and Austin both believe and the foundation of our faith is Jesus,” Josh says. “It navigates what we do. It’s something we’re really proud of.”
However, the brothers say they avoided pushing their beliefs on their MKR competitors.
“We don’t necessarily talk about [our religion] unless we’re asked about it because we know it’s a touchy subject,” Josh reasons. “We believe it’s based on what’s in your heart. It’s not what you do that gets you to heaven, it’s what you believe. So if you accept that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour then you will be saved.”
