Michael Clarke opens up about cancer procedure

Michael Clarke opened up about having a skin cancer removed from his forehead this week, following a diagnosis of three non-melanoma lesions.

The former Australian cricketer took to Instagram to share a photo of his face after the invasive procedure and encouraged his followers to protect themselves when out in the sun.

“Another day, another skin cancer cut out of my face… youngsters out there make sure you are doing all the right things to protect yourself from the sun,” he wrote in the caption.

Former Miss World Australia, Erin Holland commented, “awesome message MC.. We need to be so vigilent,” and his wife, Kyly Clarke simply commented a fist bump emoji in support.

Australian swimmer Grant Hackett was encouraged to get checked, commenting, “You have made me book an appointment.”

According to the Daily Mail, the 38-year-old was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006 and has battled the disease several times since.

Last year, Michael told The Morning Show that he gets a check-up every six to twelve months.

The father-of-one appeared in a Cancer Council ad campaign advising fans to “keep a close eye” on their skin.

“Aussie blokes and women need to keep a close eye on your skin, particularly look in those hard to see places, and familiarize yourself with your body.”

Recently, Michael and Kyly opened up about the terrifying moment their daughter Kelsey-Lee was rushed to hospital last year in an interview with A Current Affair.
