Just one day after a court heard that she’d blown through her entire $65m Spice Girls fortune, it has emerged that Mel B has just $1,645 left in one of her company’s accounts.
The shock details regarding the star’s dire financial situation came to light as Mel faced ex-husband Stephen Belafonte in an LA court for the first time as proceedings get underway for their bitter divorce battle.
The new reports suggest the paltry sum left in Mel’s British account Moneyspider Productions, which was set up in 1997 is due to her ‘extravagant lifestyle’.
The nature of the accounts business is listed as ‘Sound recording and music publishing activities’.
A source told the Sunday People: “Mel is an international superstar, still working as a judge on America’s Got Talent, but she only has a small amount of money in the bank, according to Companies House. People may be very surprised.”
Mel is also stated as owning 20% of Spice Girls Limited which held $188,424 as of August 31, 2016. Her fellow bandmates own the remainder.
She owns 16% of Octopus Direct along with the other Spice Girls and music mogul Simon Fuller. It held $18, 072 as of August 31, 2016.
It emerged yesterday that Mel and Stephen both have outstanding tax debts after making ‘improvident’ lifestyle choices.
