Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe are getting close again thanks to a string of flirtatious phone calls.
‘Meg reached out to Russell after her split from John [Mellencamp] and they’ve been talking ever since,’ an insider tells New Idea. ‘He’s been instrumental in helping her through that heartbreak and now they’ve been meeting up in secret. They’re both being very quiet about it because it’s early days, but this time they’re taking the relationship a lot more seriously now they’re older and wiser.’
Friends say Meg was rebounding when they first hooked up while filming Proof of Life 16 years ago, but it was one of the hottest affairs either of them had ever had and they’ve always had nothing but really positive things to say about each other.
‘Russell’s always said she was the one who got away, but judging from the current situation between them, he won’t be able to say that any more!’ adds the insider.
