After an awkward run-in with his ex Georgia Love, one of the most mild-mannered Bachelors ever seen in Australia (save for Sam Wood) got into another uncomfortable situation on Derby Day in Melbourne this past week.

Matty “J” Johnson, 32, told his Nova Wake Up with Matt, Sarah and Matty j show on Saturday morning that he started talking to a group of men after his fiancee Laura Byrne left the races to return home to their newborn daughter, Marlie-Mae.
“We started chatting and one of them was just looking at me and I was thinking this is weird,” Matty J said.
“Then he kind of stopped and looked at me dead in the eye and said, ‘Do you remember who I am?’ I couldn’t remember this guy at all and he said, ‘You tried to fight me at a party a couple of years ago.'”
Matty denied knowing the angry racegoer, but he insisted. The racegoer said they had met two years ago at a party and there was an altercation because he was dating a friend’s ex-girlfriend.
Matty said he remember the incidence and said: “I didn’t try to fight him. My friend was really drunk and I was a little bit drunk as well and he said, ‘That’s the guy that stole my girlfriend.’ We went up to him and said, ‘Hey, you’re a bad bloke. How dare you do that.'”
Matty, who was on the fifth season of the Bachelor Australia in 2017, apologised and left the event.
Meanwhile, on Melbourne Cup day, Matty’s Georgia, who was on reporting duties for Channel 10, found herself face-to-face with Matty and Laura as they entered the famous Birdcage at the Flemington racecourse.
In a photo from the event (seen here), Georgia looks to be pulling an awkward face, whilst Matty’s tense smile says it all.
Back in September, Laura took a sneak swipe at Georgia on her Life Uncut podcast after Georgia posted a tweet about this season’s Bachelor star, Matt Agnew sending home fan favourite Elly Miles.
Georgia joked: “F*** YOU MATT. Don’t @ me.” The tweet and the language Georgia used infuriated Laura.
Speaking to her podcast co-host Brittany Hockley, Laura said: “The fact that Georgia Love had said this really grind my gears. She didn’t say, ‘Hey, this isn’t cool’. She chose to use obscenities and basically verbally abused Matt for his choices.”
Laura also said that Georgia was being hypocritical when she received a backlash when she sent home fan favourite, firefighter Cameron Cranley on The Bachelorette in 2016.
