Celeb chef Matt Golinski has found happiness again nearly six years after a horror house fire wiped out his entire family and left him with 40 per cent burns to his body.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the former Ready Steady Cook star revealed he is engaged to Erin Yarwood, the personal trainer he formed a friendship with whilst in hospital.
‘I hadn’t really been considering the idea of a new relationship – I just wanted to get well and move on from everything,’ he said.
Then fate came along and I was lucky to meet someone who was really special.’
The couple started out as friends but slowly fell in love.
‘Then I started thinking about how I could imagine spending my life with her.’
The chef proposed on top of Mount Cooroora in Pomona and she said yes.
‘A lot of people search their whole lives for love. I have been lucky enough to have two great loves. To love two wonderful, kind women,’ he concluded.
The happy news will come as a welcome relief to the star, who admitted earlier in the year to the Sydney Morning Herald that he tries his best not to think of his former life.
‘If I sit and think about my girls for ages and the times we had, then it will drive me insane.’
‘I can let myself think about good times and be grateful for them. But then I have to let them go. Otherwise it becomes too sad,’
Matt was hospitalised for eight weeks and left in a coma after a fire tore through their family home on Boxing Day 2011, killing his wife, Rachael and daughters, twins Sage and Willow, 12 and Starlia, 10.
