It’s been MasterChef Australia’s most drama-filled season to date and the reality TV show continues to be plagued by controversy even after the series winner has been announced.
Viewers watched as Diana Chan seized a one-point victory over Queensland’s Ben Ungermann in the last moments of the show on Monday, but many are claiming the final tally – 90 to 89 – was “rigged.”
Taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations, fans have alluded to “collusion” between the judges to ensure a nail-bitingly close end result.
I'm sure there was absolutely no collusion involved that resulted in a one-point win, hey @masterchefau #masterchefau

@masterchefau RIGGED! That one extra point seemed very contrived. Sad that it was Matt given the job of swaying the judgement D:

Bit strange everyone gives an 8 but she needs a 9 to win and of course Matt gives a 9. #masterchefAU pic.twitter.com/DYBGuIDBW3

However, some were far less cynical, suggesting the climax was simply a “cliff-hanger” and congratulating Diana on being a worthy victor.
