Married At First Sight star Matthew Bennett has laid disturbing allegations against his co-star and ‘ex-wife’ Lauren Huntriss.

The 30-year-old ‘ex-virgin’ – who infamously had sex for the first time during his stint on the Channel Nine social experiment earlier this year – claims makeup artist Lauren, 31, sent him “abusive” text messages and publicly hinted he could be gay during their disastrous, short-lived relationship on MAFS Australia.

Since filming wrapped, Matthew has moved on with new girlfriend Annabel Jameson.

The couple are currently on holiday in Indonesia, and earlier this week Matthew took to social media to share a photo of himself flinging his wedding ring into an active volcano in the south east Asian country.

The videographer captioned the Instagram photo: “I threw my ring into a volcano. Have a great Tuesday everyone.”

After his post was branded immature by social media users, Matthew jumped to his own defence by claiming Lauren had “called him names” in a series of text messages.

The MAFS star also said Lauren publicly discussed his sexuality, suggested he was gay and continued to harass him in the aftermath of the controversial reality TV show.

Matthew further alleged the producers and executives on Married At First Sight were aware of Lauren’s behaviour, Daily Mail Australia reports.

“Just because none of it was captured on camera doesn’t mean it didn’t happen,” he said of their ill-fated TV marriage.

“I didn’t start this post to paint anyone with a particular brush, but you can be sure I’m going to defend my right to deal with my trauma in my way.

“And unless you’re my therapist, kindly keep your opinions to yourself.”

Matthew and Lauren starred on Married At First Sight 2019 alongside contestants Jessika Power, Elizabeth Sobinoff, Mike Gunner, Heidi Latcham, Sam Ball, Billy Vincent, Cyrell Paule, Ines Basic, Jules Robinson, Cameron Merchant, Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli.

The only couples remaining are Jules and Cam – set to marry later this year – and Martha and Michael, who live minutes from each other in Melbourne.
