MAFS’ Clare Verrall is radiant in white two years after failed TV ‘marriage’

Former reality TV star spoke of ‘perfectly orchestrated’ day

It’s been two years since Clare Verrall made an ill-fated appearance on Married at First Sight Australia.

She was paired with Jono Pitman, a man she described as a ‘hot head’.

Two weeks later the ‘newlyweds’ had split.

Not only has the reality TV starlet lost 43 kilos since that day, she has now posed in a perfectly white dress for another special occasion.

Clare was at St Kilda beach in Melbourne for the AFL grand final at the weekend – a day she described as ‘perfectly orchestrated’ on her popular Instagram page.

‘Extremely impressed with myself for wearing a white dress & somehow not spilling anything on it!’ the former reality TV star wrote alongside a glamorous snap of herself with a pal.

‘Thanks again to my beautiful friend @hellreizer for the invitation. Had such a blast with my awesome crew @orindalove44 @misscista @omgwilde & @garypretty25 in addition to the many mates I ran into.’

For those wondering where she got her beautiful white gown, Clare helpfully tagged @shop_loreta in her post.

Speaking to New Idea in August, Clare revealed the background to her impressive weight loss journey and said she was ready to find love again.

While Clare holds no malice towards Jono, her confidence took a hit after her appearance on MAFS – driving her further and further into a reclusive state.

Ordering three pizzas a day, Clare weighed in at 119kg and barely left the house. Then one morning her world came crashing down when she woke to find a photo of herself walking her dog Hodor, all over the national press.

‘I feel like that picture will haunt me for the rest of my life,’ she says. ‘I felt very ashamed when it was published, as I had been sort of hiding as my weight ballooned and suddenly I was out there for the world to see.’

But then Clare realised she had to let go of the past.

‘I had to let it go,’ she admits, touching on the difficult time she had on the show after being paired with a mismatched partner.

‘I was still holding on to resentment that Jono and I were both set up to fail on MAFS and I finally realised that was just a waste of time.’

Finally feeling like her old self, she has now gone from a size 20 to a trim size 12 in a matter of months – but more importantly, is so comfortable in her own skin she is even ready to date again.

‘For a long time I was scared of being vulnerable again,’ she explains. ‘I still have a curvy body with rolls, wrinkles and cellulite, but I have totally accepted this and no longer need validation from others. I’m larger now than when I was on the show, but I am more confident than ever.’
