Manu Feildel is a busy man.
When he’s not travelling around the country with My Kitchen Rules, he’s working on his new pop-up duck restaurant Duck In Duck Out in Sydney’s Surry Hills, with pal Phil Davenport.
So when reports came out recently that having more kids wasn’t going to happen, it made sense.
But when New Idea sits down with Manu, it’s a different story.
‘No, no, no… Where did you read that?’ Manu, 43, exclaims. ‘I think another kid is a great thought. If there’s another baby coming up and it’s not planned, we’ll work it out and we’ll be happy.’
But another child for Manu and fiancee Clarissa Weerasena – who are already parents to Charlee, two, and Jonti, 12, from Manu’s previous relationship – may be where they draw the line.
‘You’ve got to know when to stop I suppose. I think if there is another kid, that is a great thought, but then you’ve got a whole life with that person, which includes education and everything else.
‘So if you have 10 kids, you’ve got a lot of responsibility. We are happy where we are. ‘It’s not about having more or less – we’ve got an amazing little family and it’s plenty for us.’
And can we expect that wedding Manu and Clarissa keep postponing due to work commitments anytime?
‘Hopefully we can get married soon,’ he says. ‘Every year we plan and every year I get too busy.’
