They were one of the most controversial couples in Married At First Sight history.
But on Sunday night, we finally found out what really happened between Anthony and Nadia when the cameras stopped rolling.
“He dropped me like a hotcake,” she told her fellow guests at the reunion dinner party, which reportedly took place two months after the filming on the experiment concluded.
“He had just dragged me along.”
“We renewed our marriage vows and he told me he wanted to be with me. He told me to move to Sydney. He told me to have faith. The next day he said, ‘My feelings haven’t grown for you and I can’t do this.’”
Midway through the meal, her former beau – who had turned up late to the event and given her a noticeably “cold” greeting – swapped seats so he could sit next to Nadia and offer her an on-camera apology.
“Hey I just want to say that I’m sorry – now that I have got the opportunity – that things didn’t work out between us,” he began his pre-rehearsed speech.
“And I just want to thank you for having my back and being supportive and being there the whole way through.”
Later, in ear shot of his jilted bride, the 35-year-old race caller went into detail about why the relationship had really broken down.
“I was relieved for it to be over,” he told castmates Andy and Vanessa.
“After, for me, our relationship didn’t grow and I didn’t fall in love.”
“The reality is I just didn’t get to that point. At the end of the day, I didn’t fall in love and Nadia never said those words either. I’m sure we will be friends down the track.”
Visibly overwhelmed by what she had heard, Nadia proceeded to leave the table and vent her frustration to Cheryl.
“He doesn’t get it,” she said.
“He doesn’t feel anything. Anthony in his mind thinks that everything should be amicable and fabulous but at the end of the day he is the one who made the call.”
“I’m disappointed because he says all the right things but it means nothing. It grates against me because this is not who I am. I’m not here to play games. Don’t bulls**t me, don’t mess with me,” she continued.
“He thinks what he did was admirable but it was really under the table. He hurt me a lot and it was because he was inauthentic. He will say all the right things – bulls**t. He said sorry but is that because the cameras are rolling?”
“He will say everything because of the cameras. A man that I want to be with doesn’t make a woman cry, doesn’t make her question who she is as a person. I’m sorry… but seriously.”
“I was always pushing for his truth and I got it. I don’t want him.”
