Bride Scarlett may have been happy with her new husband Michael on last night’s episode of Married at First Sight, but her mum Marie was less than impressed.
Turning into a monster-in-law before the ceremony even started, Marie wasted no time voicing her reservations about her daughter’s groom, labelling him a ‘rude pig’ for not going out of his way to meet her.
‘Is he just talking to that side? Does he realise we have a bride on this side?’ complained Marie as 30-year-old Michael mingled with his family and friends as he waited for Scarlett to arrive.
The drama then continued at the wedding, when Michael still failed to address his new mother-in-law.
‘He hasn’t said one word to me,’ she said. ‘He didn’t seven look at me. I’m very upset. I’m invisible [to him]… He’s got no manners. He was so rude, I thought he was a pig.’
When the two finally crossed paths at the reception, Marie didn’t hold back, telling Michael she had reservations about him.
In an ominous sign for the couple, Scarlett had previously told her bridesmaids how important her mum’s opinion was to her.
‘I hope my mum likes him. That’s important,’ she said.
