Viewers have unleashed on Married At First Sight twins Sharon and Michelle over their treatment of their on-screen husbands in the show’s finale.
The Perth-based siblings had fans on the edge of their seats during last night’s episode, eagerly awaiting the outcome as the pair decided on their future with grooms Nick and Jesse.
In what has since been dubbed one of the cruelest moments in the shows history, Michelle spent four minutes praising her relationship with Jesse before telling him that she just wanted to continue what they have “as the friendship that it is.”
“I’m so thankful our paths have crossed, because I do want you in my life forever, but not as your partner,” she said.
“I want to be the friend that you confide in, support and have fun with. To continue the friendship we have formed here in the experiment.”
Viewers were quick to jump to Jesse’s defense, slamming the bride for leading him on accusing her of using the show for fame.
But her sister’s vow renewals ended with a vastly different outcome, with Sharon surprising fans by revealing her undying love for Nick.
“It goes without saying there’s been a strong physical and emotional chemistry,” she told him. “However…”
“Now that we’ve left the bubble of the experiment I’ve been able to see things more clearly,” she said, making her beau think he was about to be humiliated on national TV.
“I now know what is best for me at this point in my life, and I have to be true to that.”
“And you, Nick Furphy, have my heart.”
“I was freakin’ out,” he confessed.
“You scared me. I was starting to shake.”
Naturally, her drawn-out decision frustrated many fans who took to Twitter to air their grievances.
