Married At First Sight’s Dean Wells has opened up about the trust issues he faces due to the failure of his first marriage.
The 40-year-old ‘alpha-male’ married his American girlfriend when he was just 21-years-old.
Wells confessed to The Fix, ‘She was over here studying when I met her and we got together.
‘She moved over here, we fell in love, and married pretty young. We were together until I was 30, and we had a great time. We had an amazing marriage for those years, but in the end, it just didn’t really work out.’
The reality star claims there were several factors that contributed to the crumbling of that marriage. The distance to her hometown in America, as well as her being ‘deceitful.’
‘I don’t know that she was cheating on me,’ he reveals. ‘She was a bit deceitful about a few things and about her relationship with a certain male friend of ours. In the end there was a few factors but I did find out she was a bit deceitful.’
‘It probably made me a little bit more weary,’ Wells continues. ‘I now take my time getting into a relationship. I don’t throw myself into a relationship as quickly as I did.’
The controversial star made waves on Sunday night’s episode of Married At First Sight when he blindsided his TV wife Tracey Jewel at the couple’s first commitment ceremony.
During a compulsory procedure, all 11 MAFS couples were asked to write down on a piece of paper whether they wanted to ‘leave’ or ‘stay’ in the experiment.
Despite complimenting Jewel’s looks, intelligence, and their sex life, Wells took everyone by surprise by requesting to leave the relationship. Jewel called him ‘an arsehole’ and accused him of wanting to ‘hit it and quit it’.
Jewel wrote ‘stay’ on her piece.
The show’s rules state that both members of the couple must write ‘leave’ in order to exit the show. The pair will now continue in the experiment for another seven days, until the next commitment ceremony on February 18.
