Aside from host Sophie Monk, the narrator of the dating show will also be making a comeback.

But just who is the hilarious person behind the voice-overs of the reality series?

The mysterious voice belongs to Eoghan McDermott, an Irish comic who also narrates the UK version of Love Island.

Aside from lending his vocals – and sense of humour – to the franchise, Eoghan was once a backup dancer for stars like Rihanna, The Pussycat Dolls and Chris Brown.

The 36-year-old rose to fame in 2011 through MTV’s Pick Me MTV (a reality series designed to find the network’s next big TV presenter).

From there, Eoghan was hired as a radio DJ host for XFm before landing a gig as the sole host at 2FM.

He also hosted Eurovision’s Irish Selection shows in 2015 and 2016, as well as The Voice of Ireland alongside Kathryn Thomas.

TV Blackbox confirmed the new season of Love Island will premiere on Monday, October 7 at 8.45 pm on Nine.

Unlike last year, the new season of the dating series will be broadcast on Channel Nine and not 9GO!.

While the network is yet to reveal the cast, Dr Sam Hay’s wife— who’s a producer on Love Island Australia— told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show that they’re “Twice as good as last year. [That’s] mostly [based on] looks, because they haven’t actually sort of really sat down and had a chat with them.” Some interesting characters seem to be coming through, too.”
