Louis Tomlinson gives emotional performance days after mother’s death

‘You’ve done her proud’

Louis Tomlinson proved the show really does go on with an emotional performance during the British X Factor final on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old former One Direction member gave the first performance of his debut solo single Just Hold On – which was seen by many to be a tribute to his mother Johannah.

‘Oh until it’s all been said, it’s not over until your dying breath,’ he sang.

‘So what do you want them to say when you’re gone? That you gave up or that you kept going on? What do you do when a chapter ends? Do you close the book and never read it again?’

‘Where do you go when your story’s done,” he continued. “You can be who you want or who you’ll become. Oh if it all goes wrong, oh darling just hold on. The sun goes down and it comes back up. The world still turns no matter what’.

Louis thanked fans after his performance, saying it was ‘harder’ than he had imagined.

It was revealed yesterday that Johannah had passed away after suffering a sudden and aggressive battle with leukemia – she was just 43-years-old.

“You know what. I have to say something to you,” judge simon Cowell said after the performance.

‘I’ve known you now for six years. What you’ve just done — and the bravery — I respect you as an artist, I respect you as a person, and your mum was so proud of you, Louis, and she was so looking forward to tonight. She watching down on you now, and you’ve done her proud’.

It is believed that all four of Louis’ former One Direction band mates – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayne Malik –were in attendance to support Louis.
