Today host Lisa Wilkinson was left terrified for her son’s safety while reporting on the deadly terror attack in Berlin.
With her 21-year-old son Jake in the German city, Lisa has revealed she was frantically trying to get in touch with her son while reporting on the horrendous attack.
‘I’ve been a little distracted this morning because my son Jake is in Berlin right now,’ Lisa told viewers.
‘And I just got the message that he’s OK. We got that through Facebook because his phone has been switched off.’
Clearly relieved to later find her son was safe, the mum-of-three revealed Jake was planning on attending the local Christmas markets on Monday night, where a truck ploughed into shoppers, killing nine people and injuring at least 50.
‘He was going to go to the night markets last night, decided against it, had a sleep instead,’ revealed Lisa.
‘He is safe and well fortunately. My hearts go out to the many, many families that will be affected by this.’
