Kyle Sandilands this morning made the bizarre and provocative suggestion that he was in some way responsible for the break up of Karl Stefanovic’s marriage from long time wife Cassandra.
Stunning listeners with his distinctly odd tale, the controversial radio host related his awkward encounter with the couple at a friend’s party.
‘I was at a mate’s place and Karl showed up with Cassandra,’ Kyle began, explaining that he was trying to avoid Karl at the time, over some undisclosed slight.
‘Karl says to me have you met my wife Cassandra, and by the way you’re her hall pass – and then he left me with her. And I thought, am I supposed to have sex with her now?’
A stunned Jackie O butted in, ‘Well did you have sex with her?’ to which Kyle quickly responded, ‘No’.
‘Well then you’re not responsible for their marriage breakup. What are you talking about?’ she responded angrily, but impressively clear-headedly. But that didn’t deter Kyle, who clarified that the party was not a partner-swapping event.
‘Let me just make it very clear, it wasn’t a “keys in the bowl”… but Karl dropped the bombshell that I was her fantasy guy, and you can’t blame her.’
Attempting to explain the logic behind his belief he was somehow involved in the split, Kyle continued, ‘but just the temptation of putting your fantasy guy in front of you, he screwed himself up there, don’t you think?’
To which Jackie replied, ‘Ugh, no?’
