He’s no stranger to making a lasting impression on his guests.
But radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands’ latest on-air spat took things to a whole new level.
The 45-year-old had been promoting an interview with Samantha Grant, Meghan Markle’s half-sister all morning, amid reports that she’s planning to release an explosive tell-all book about her relationship with the Suits actress and girlfriend of Prince Harry.
But their chat definitely didn’t go to plan, with Kyle blasting Grant, calling her a “loser and a “bore” before brutally hanging up on her.
The train-wreck began when the author claimed that her book was about “bi-racial evolution” and insisted that the tabloids were just “assuming the worst about its content.”
“It’s all positive, but the media… is just assuming it’s a horrible tell-all,” she explained, prompting Kyle’s co-host Jackie O to ask: “But isn’t the title, ‘The Diary of Princess Pushy’s sister?’”
Grant hit back: “It’s a working title – I have a background in marketing and promotions.”
“I decided to make the title controversial and opposite to the theme of the book for strategic reasons because I feel that it highlights what is going on in the media.”
Jackie O continued: “So you will admit that you’re using your sister’s fame and her name at the moment to sell this book which isn’t anything to do with your sister?”
“No! That’s not true,” Grant said.
But by this point, Kyle had had enough of dancing around the subject, snapping: “Why don’t you call the book, ‘My Boring life?”
“Why did you bring your sister into it?” he quizzed.
“See you later. You sound like such a bore.”
“Not interested. Don’t use your sister’s name to trick media organisations into pushing your sh*t book. You’re gone. See ya! Bye.”
“What a loser,” he exclaimed, cutting the conversation short.
