US report: Terrible news for country music icon Kenny Rogers

The country music icon is the subject of a worrying new report

Country singer Kenny Rogers may be headed off stage for good, amid a worrying personal health crisis. He reportedly lived with the life-threatening Hepatitis C virus for two decades before he was finally diagnosed in 1994, and US magazine Globe is claiming today that the toll of his health burden is now weighing heavily.

“He must have suspected something was seriously wrong, but he was afraid to learn the truth,” a source tells Globe. “It was eating away at him – and that must have gone on for years.”

He finally went to a doctor who confirmed his worst fears.

Now the disease, which can lead to cirrhosis, liver failure and liver cancer, has forced the 79-year-old entertainer to consider retirement, claims the top-selling publication.

That magazine reports that in addition to Hep C, Kenny has struggled with plastic surgery obsession, drugs and other health woes including knee replacement, rotator cuff and throat surgeries.

He’s performing at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif. in April, which could be his last show.

“Kenny’s still going but he’s been through hell and back,” says the source.

Kenny has yet to respond to Globe‘s allegations.
