Australian author Kathy Lette has confirmed the news that she hand her husband of 27 years, Geoffrey Robertson, are calling it quits.
The 58-year-old says her separation from the human rights lawyer was ‘on the warmest of terms’ and the pair who have two children together, Jules, 36, and Georgie, 24, ‘remain close and committed to the family we have created together.’
Kathy recently was in the news after revealing that she had once considered hiring a sex worker for her son with autism.
‘Geoff is the smartest man I’ve ever met, saving the world’s underdogs from their kennels. I love and respect him so much and always will,’ says Kathy, whose work includes the screenplay for 1981 film Puberty Blues, and novels ‘How to Kill Your Husband’ and ‘To Love, Honour, and Betray’.
The pair met in 1988 while Kathy was married to Kim Williams, and Geoff was seeing Nigella Lawson. The pair became entranced with each other and married in 1990.
Kathy says that she is unsure what will happen in the future, but she wants to spend more time in Australia.
‘I miss home so much,’ she told Australian Women’s Weekly.
