Duchess Kate has warned Camilla, telling her: ‘Hands off my dad!’
Palace sources confirm Kate is ‘furious and humiliated’ over her mother-in-law’s crush on her father Michael Middleton.
She thinks Camilla has gone too far this time and is fighting back to protect her family.
While insiders are quick to point out Camilla’s obvious attraction to Kate’s dad is ‘purely innocent’, the duchess is reportedly ‘mortified’ over the 69-year-old’s growing fixation with her married father.
‘Camilla can’t help herself when it comes to Michael,’a royal insider tells New Idea. ‘Whenever they’re in the sameroom, she makes a beeline straight for him and flirts outrageously! She’ll go out of her way to touch him, laugh at all of his jokes and act like a love-struck teenager. It’s obvious to anyone who sees them.
‘And when Kate found out that Camilla had started to text Michael, she was furious and felt so betrayed. The fact Camilla’s putting her father, and the whole family, in this horrible position is unacceptable in her view.’
Sources confirm that over the past 12 months, Camilla – who attends half the number of royal functions as that of husband Prince Charles – went only to the events that Michael attended. The situation, royal aides tell New Idea, has become so dire that Camilla’s unwanted attention is causing tensions –not only with 35-year- old Kate, but between her beloved parents, Michael, 67, and Carole, 62, as well.
‘Poor Michael is too polite to say anything, but there’s no doubt he finds Camilla’s attention uncomfortable and awkward,’ says the source. ‘He’s a reserved gentleman, but privately it’s quite shocking that he finds himself in this situation. He likes Charles a great deal, and he’s a devoted family man who wouldn’t dream of flirting with a married woman – let alone the wife of the heir to the throne!
‘Kate’s had enough, especially because it has upset her mother [Carole]. Kate thinks it’s cruel, but Camilla is fixated with Michael.’
