As the world prepares to celebrate Her Majesty’s official 90th birthday, palace insiders confirm the beloved monarch has made the shock decision to step down from formal duties and have Kate take on her official role.

While Prince Charles will remain heir to the throne, the Queen is keen for Kate and Wills to be the official face of the family as they are immensely popular and loved around the world.

‘It’s vitally important to the Queen that she dies knowing the world still loves the royals,’ an insider reveals.

It’s been confirmed that Kate, 34, will take over many of the Queen’s official duties after the monarch’s 90th birthday celebrations are complete – starting next month with an important service at St Paul’s  Cathedral, and the famous Trooping the Colour festivities.
