It is no secret that fans of Channel Nine’s morning show, Today, have been calling for beloved host Karl Stefanovic’s immediate return.

Now, sources close to the star and the production company have informed New Idea that Karl is looking like he’ll return to his desk very soon!

According to our source, both Deborah and Georgie want to save the show and apparently, the co-hosts believe bringing Karl back could be the answer.

“They both have very different reasons about why they want to work with Karl again,” added the source. “And they both bring some very valid points to the table.”

Despite consistent reports all but confirming that Karl will make his way back the once ultra-popular breakfast show, nationwide betting company Sportsbet is not bowing to gossip and rates Karl Stefanovic an outsider to return as permanent host of Today.

The online bookmaker has Stefanovic at $3.00 to be reinstated as a permanent host on the program this year.

This is despite the show’s ratings having plummeted in dramatic fashion since Stefanovic was unceremoniously dumped by Nine.

Although there have been rumours of some bad blood, according to ‘unnamed sources’ the Gold Logie winner would be warmly welcomed back to the desk.

Even though Stefanovic is still contracted at Nine, it seems the betting community are unlikely to take a punt on Karl’s comeback.

“Even with Today’s terrible ratings, we doubt Nine executives will reinstate Karl. The bloke is a legend and hugely popular” said sportsbet.com.au’s Rich Hummerston.

Rob McKnight, who runs entertainment news site TV Blackbox, told New Idea: “There’s no doubt Karl would be missing the daily cut-and-thrust of television. He’s a man on a lot of money with nothing to  do, and for someone of Karl’s creativity and drive, it must be making him stir-crazy.”
