Are Karl Stefanovic and new girlfriend Jasmine Yarborough heading for a high-profile split after just three months?
Break-up rumours are swirling for the pair after a romantic weekend in Brisbane to meet the model-turned-shoe-designer’s parents went belly-up, with Jasmine now questioning her feelings for Karl.
The 33-year-old jetted off to China just a day after arriving back in Sydney, revealing that she’d be heading back to her home in Los Angeles – and 12,000km away from 42-year-old Karl – for the foreseeable future.
‘The whole weekend away in Brisbane was just awkward,’ an insider says.
‘Karl and Jasmine have very little in common. Of course there’s the age difference and the fact that they live in different countries. Meeting the parents is a lot of pressure to put on any new relationship, and Karl just buckled – it was totally weird.’
After the weekend in Brisbane, Karl and Jasmine walked separately through Sydney airport towards the exit – with the Today host accompanied by close friend Richard ‘Dickie’ Wilkins, while the veteran entertainment reporter’s son Christian chaperoned a ‘miserable’ Jasmine.
And while reports indicated that the couple used Dickie and Christian to divert attention from themselves, insiders tell New Idea that wasn’t quite right.
‘Things were pretty tense after the weekend away and they just needed some time apart,’ a source says. ‘After they got home, they met up for crisis talks to work out their next steps.
‘Jasmine made it clear she needed some time to think things through and would be leaving the next day.
‘She’s currently in China for business – and then it’s back to LA. She’s worried the relationship is a little too intense, that it’s not too right for her at the moment.’
