There is fresh turmoil in the divorce between Karl Stefanovic and Cassandra Thorburn.
New Idea has seen maps showing Karl is living in a bachelor pad just 750m away from the $8 million waterfront mansion where Cass resides following their break-up.
The divorced mum-of-three has moved with their kids into the newly renovated luxury home, while Karl shares his pad with US-based girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough when she’s in town.
The former couple’s proximity has caused a new wave of angst for the Today host, with friends now fearing that it’s only a matter of time before ex-wife Cass crosses paths with Jasmine in a public showdown.
‘He has been forced to make changes to the way he moves around his neighbourhood since Cassandra moved in,’ a source reveals to New Idea. ‘Karl is no longer jogging around the streets by his house. Instead, he drives to other suburbs to exercise.
‘His tennis training, which was taking place at a court next to Cassandra’s house, has been cancelled, and the route he drives his Mercedes-Benz has been modified so he doesn’t drive past Cassandra as she is putting out the rubbish or loading the kids into the car.
‘Friends fear it won’t be long before Jasmine and Cassandra bump into each other at the local Coles or petrol station.’
Adds a source close to Cass: ‘The last thing Cass wants to do is run into Jasmine. Karl’s new romance is still a very sore point with her, and she’s still very raw from the split. Coming face-to- face with Jasmine in Woolies or Coles when she least expects it would be a nightmare.’
New Idea understands that Cass, 45, moved into the waterfront mansion before renovations had been 100 per cent completed, and was unaware that Karl and Jasmine were living less than a kilometre away.
‘Cass didn’t realise how close she was going to be to Karl’s pad until she moved in and was informed of the proximity,’ the source tells New Idea.
‘She previously hadn’t known where Karl was living.’
