Karl Stefanovic is facing a scathing attack on social media following the airing of his segment on Meghan Markle for 60 Minutes.
Viewers took to Twitter to slam the former Today host, calling him a “hypocrite” due to his past of criticising the media for invading his privacy.
“The couple appear to want a little privacy. Too much to ask? You bet. The public feel cheated, the tabloids have turned and the blame game – much of it directed at Meghan – is fierce,” Karl said in the opening segment of the report.

Critics have responded in turn, with one person tweeting:
“Watching the hypocricy of Karl Stefanovic scrutinizing a public person after pleading for his own privacy for two years – I mean, what is this?”
Another viewer wrote: “@karlstefanovic and @60mins trying to vilify Meghan as the press did to Dianna. Using scum like #KatieHopkins to do their dirty work.”
The story, which is being widely slammed as a hatchet job on Twitter, is being promoted with clips showing infamous British media figure Katie Hopkins ripping into Meghan.
Hopkins, who has no known expertise on the royal family, is instead infamous in the UK for her inflammatory comments, some of which have been slammed as ‘racist‘.
In the past, Karl has slammed others for speaking so freely, which has resulted in some claiming he had a double standard.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Karl was caught on camera swearing at a photographer at Gold Coast Airport who tried to take his photo.
“Take your f**king camera and get out that f**king door, it’s f**king Christmas,” Karl berated the photographer.
‘”Why are you shaking? Have you got some disease? Are you sick in the head? You got a s**t job. It’s Christmas day. Go home!”
Karl is yet to comment on the backlash.
