Today host Karl Stefanovic is turning to a surprising new woman in the wake of his shock separation after 21 years of marriage – gorgeous Sunrise presenter Sam Armytage.
The pair might be breakfast TV rivals, but off-camera they’ve forged a very close friendship over the years, with Karl, in the past, openly confessing: ‘I love her.’ Now it seems the strength of their friendship is on show, with Sam lending support to Karl during his difficult split from wife Cassandra Thorburn.
Insiders confirm the two have been in close contact since it was revealed last week that 42-year- old Karl had moved into mate James Packer’s Sydney home after calling it quits on his marriage.
Karl’s previous support for Sam – who’s suffered a string of public attacks and ‘fat-shaming’ scandals –has left no doubt as to just how much Karl cares for the 40-year-old.
‘She is a very well-loved personality on Australian TV and I love her,’ he told the Daily Mail last year after Sam was accused of Diva behaviour. ‘I think she is one of the great people on TV… I consider her family.
Now it seems that it’s Sam’s turn to be there for Karl whose impending divorce has shocked close friends and family.
