When Judge Judy Sheindlin began to speak as if in slow motion, and she began to appear visibly confused and disoriented during ‘as live’ filming of her hit courtroom TV show, producers knew something was very wrong.
“It was a terrifying ordeal for her,” a source tells US magazine The National Enquirer. “She was slurring her speech, suffered double vision and was left feeling nauseous.”
During the incident – which occurred in 2011 – her staffers panicked and called 911, with Judge Judy admitting that some of them asked her if she was “loaded” – aka drunk!
Doctors diagnosed the now 74-year-old with experiencing a transient ischemic attack – which medics agree increases the risk of life-threatening strokes.
“One third of people who suffer a TIA eventually have a full blown stroke involving the same abnormalities,” New York-based Dr Stuart Fischer tells the Enquirer. “And the next time the symptoms will be far more severe.”
