Fans were devastated when Johhny Ruffo confirmed he had been diagnosed with brain cancer a few months ago, but now the star has given an important health update while speaking to Nova’s Smallzy.
“Yeah feeling good, feeling good. Everything’s going as per planned so far with treatment and what not,” Ruffo revealed.
“So I’ve got two more treatments left actually. I’ve been doing that for 6 weeks and then I have a three or four-week break and then I start Chemo for 6 months. So it’s a bit full on but it’ll be good.”
Ruffo also mentioned how much his life has changed since receiving the diagnosis. “Literally, like everything changed immediately. Just your whole diet changes, obviously your weekend plans change.”
“This particular type of cancer is called an Oligodendroglioma…” he explained. “It took me so long to actually be able to pronounce the word. The particular type of strain of that tumour that it is, it’s one that responds great to radiotherapy and chemotherapy which is a good thing.”
“So hopefully at the end of the 6 months I’ll be in the clear, light at the end of the tunnel.”
The 29-year-old former Home And Away star revealed that he’s using his social media platform to bring awareness to brain cancer and its affiliated charities. On November 5th he plans to be involved in ‘Walk for Brain Cancer’ charity event.

“This is the thing, I’m very fortunate to have sort of a bit of a media platform to be able to shed a bit of light on it to and at least get the word out there cos there’s not a hell of a lot of support behind Brain Cancer.”
“So it’s really good to sort of have a platform and be able to help and also I feel like I’ve had a lot of support and a lot of that’s probably come off the back of being in the media.”
“The people who aren’t in the media probably wouldn’t have that same support to be able to give back to those people is just an incredible feeling.”
