However, despite the sad diagnosis, Olivia’s good friend and musical collaborator, John Farnham has revealed that she is confident that she will beat the disease once again.

“I’ve spoken to Olivia in the last few days, and, as always she is very positive,” Farnham said.

“She told me she is feeling good and confident of a total healing. The love and support from family and friends as well as people in general is enormous comfort to her.

“I’ve also spoken to Doctor Cebon at Olivia’s Wellness Center, and he tells me that her positivity is a great asset to her and if anyone can beat this she can.”

68-year-old Olivia was forced to postpone her US and Canadian tour dates next month after discovering back pain was actually breast cancer that has metastasised to the sacrum.

In a statement on her Facebook page early this morning, the singer said she is confident after a short course of photon radiation therapy she will “be back later in the year, better than ever”.

“I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” she said.
