Johanna Griggs confesses: ‘It’s been a tough year’

Christmas can't come soon enough

December is a sacred time of year for Johanna Griggs and her close-knit family.

And this year in particular, the popular TV presenter will be relishing time spent away from the spotlight with those nearest and dearest.

‘It’s been a big 12 months,’ Joh tells New Idea.

Aside from hosting a bumper season of House Rules, travelling to Rio for the Olympic Games and her duties as host of Better Homes And Gardens, 2016 has also been filled with heartbreak for the 43-year-old.

In October, she lost her long-time friend and fellow journalist Rebecca Wilson to cancer.

‘It’s just so sad,’ Joh says. ‘We had a weekend away with her brother Jimmy and Chris Bath recently.

‘They’re so strong together, but Jimmy really struggled with it towards the end because Bec was somebody who always cared about her appearance and cancer just took away her dignity.’
