Rumours have been swirling for months that Jessica Mauboy’s relationship with long-time love Themeli Magripilis is over.
Not helping matters was the fact that the singer and actress recently celebrated her 27th birthday during a seemingly endless holiday in Greece – apparently without her handsome beau.
But fear not – the couple is still very much together, and not only that, but they’re taking the next step in their relationship!
As Jess explains, though the notoriously private couple kept their happy snaps off social media, Themeli was very much present during their romantic getaway to the Greek Islands, which proved a turning point in their relationship.
‘When we were in Greece, I would get all mushy when he would be talking to the yiayias or papus on the street, asking for directions or what to see on the island, and I would think, “I love you, malaka”,’ she tells The Sunday Telegraph.
It was moments like these that Jess says made her realise their relationship is the real deal – wedding bells or not.
‘Out of all the moments we have had together, it was a realisation that, yes, I am going to be with him for the rest of my life, whether or not I have the ring,’ she gushes. ‘I know deeply how amazing he is, how he is with my family and they are with him. And he’s so hot!’
In fact, after eight years of doing the long distance thing, with Themeli based in Jess’s hometown of Darwin, the couple are now taking the plunge and moving in together!
‘In another week, we will actually be living together,’ she beams. ‘The eight years we have been together, oh my gosh, we’ve spent months together, but living under the same roof, it will be a whole other life. He know me and I know him, he still will only get part of the cupboard.’
