Despite popular belief that the star suffered a panic attack at the event, the 27-year-old has instead revealed it was a misunderstanding with staff.

“I just felt a really bad energy… It was the people I didn’t connect with,” she tells Ahn Do in an upcoming episode of Brush With Fame.

“I wouldn’t say it was a panic attack. It was more… I definitely felt trapped.”

A rep for the Australian Idol singer admitted at the time that she had pulled out of the show because of issues with “clothing and preparation.”

It’s not yet known whether Mauboy addresses these claims in the interview, however she does admit that the incident was “one of the most hectic experiences” she’d ever had.

“It’s hard to say no,” she explains.

“When you just fall into the wrong hands and it’s not where you want to be, and so respectfully for myself I wanted to stay true to that and not be a part of it all.”

“For the first time, it was something that I could say no,” she adds.

“And that was just coming from a place of being real, and being real to myself.”
