Jennifer Aniston’s mother Nancy Dow has passed away, aged 79, with the Friends actress confirming the news in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that my brother John and I announce the passing of our Mother Nancy Dow. She was 79 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after enduring a long illness,’ says Jen. ‘We ask that our family’s privacy be respected as we grieve our loss.”
It is widely known Jen, 47, struggled to forgive her mother for writing a tell-all memoir when she was at the height of her Friends fame and the two didn’t speak for years.
‘She was very critical of me,’ says Jen. ‘Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I wasn’t. I never was. I honestly still don’t think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine. She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.’
It is believed Jen long paid for Nancy’s round-the-clock medical care, with reports claiming the actress visited her mother for the first time in five years just days before she passed away.
‘This is a devastating time for Jen,’ an insider tells New Idea. ‘Justin’s helping her every step of the way. He’s actually the one who got Jen and her mum talking again. He’s been an absolute rock and Jen couldn’t have gotten through this without him.’
