In a shocking new twist, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux look set to give bombshell evidence in the wrongful death trial that has rocked Hollywood.
The A-listers will be dragged into court to answer questions about the suspicious death of Carmel Musgrove, who drowned while naked and with a cocktail of hard drugs in her system during Jen and Justin’s Bora Bora honeymoon in August 2015.
Now sources exclusively tell New Idea that the parents of the 28-year-old Hollywood PA will ‘fight tooth and nail to ensure the Jen and Justin take the stand’ as part of their battle for justice.
‘Ann and Ronnie Musgrove will stop at nothing to make sure everyone on that holiday is held accountable for their daughter’s death – they don’t care how famous or powerful Jen and Justin are,’ says an insider.
‘They’ve lost their little girl and they say Jen and Justin never even sent a sympathy card, let alone attended the funeral of someone who was supposed to be a member of their inner circle.’
According to the lawsuit, Carmel – who was a guest at their star-studded celebrations – was found dead in a lagoon following a series of murky events involving booze, cocaine, and marijuana use. And experts say Jen and Justin should expect heavy questioning.
‘It’s fairly likely Jennifer and her husband will be deposed – not because they hosted the party but because they were there for some of it, and lawyers will want to know what they’ve heard about what really happened that night,’ New York- based trial attorney Jay Auslander tells New Idea.
‘When celebrities are involved in cases like this the last thing they want is to be deposed on videotape, but in this case a deposition for them is highly likely.’
A source close to the couple reveals: ‘Jennifer and Justin are horrified by this prospect. They swear they didn’t know anyone was taking drugs on their honeymoon.
‘Of course they are very sad for Carmel’s family, but they insist they had nothing to do with her death. If they end up having to address in a courtroom the fact that there were drugs present on their vacation, it’s going to be very awkward for them.’
Carmel attended the celebration as part of her duties as personal assistant to Joel Silver, Jen and Justin’s heavyweight producer friend.
Her parents have named Joel, along with his family’s personal chef Martin Herold, as part of the lawsuit.
It’s alleged that Martin had a sexual relationship with Carmel and is among the last people to see her alive.
