Fans of Oprah Winfrey will know that the media mogul is a huge fan of gardening and vegetable-growing, regularly sharing her tips and fresh produce with her followers under the hashtag #harvestday.
However, in a recent Instagram post, the chat show queen unwittingly proved her knowledge of herbs wasn’t quite up to scratch.
“What to do with all this Dill? #Harvestday,” she wrote alongside a picture of herself carrying a huge basket of produce.
Cue celebrity chef Jamie Oliver chiming in to tell Oprah that she was actually holding fennel. Awkward!
“That’s fennel mate I love it roasted, slowly fry it until sweet, very finely slice it for salads with great olive oil salt and pepper it’s delicious enjoy.”
Luckily, Oprah took the correction from Jamie – and later on designer Zac Posen – in good humour writing:
We don’t know what’s more embarrassing, Oprah getting basic herbs mixed up or Jamie having the nerve to call her ‘mate’!
