When the trailer for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again dropped, there was one burning question fans were left wondering: is Meryl Streep’s character Donna dead?
Fans began speculating about Donna’s death after noticing her scenes featured no other actors.
The trailer, which only shows flashbacks of Donna’s youth, left fans questioning whether or not her character was actually dead or alive.
‘Does anyone else feel like meryl streep’s character much be dead in mamma mia 2? I’ve been thinking about it a lot,’ questioned one Twitter user.
Another shared: ‘Still freaking out that Meryl Streep might be dead in the new Mamma Mia movie.’
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Meryl’s co-star Amanda Seyfried set the record about the speculation once and for all.
‘You do see her. She’s, Meryl is very much a part of this movie. No, there are absolutely no flashbacks. No, because all the ‘flashbacks’ are of Lily [James] playing Donna. So it’s a prequel and a sequel, and so you see Meryl is very much a part of it,’ she shared.
Which then begs the question… does this leave the franchise open for a third movie? Fingers crossed!
